Les AMIS Concerts has introduced new performers, new repertoire and innovative music-making to the classical music canon since incorporating in 1983.
Now, in its 41st year, Les AMIS' primary goal continues to be to nurture talented young musicians at the earliest stages of their professional careers. It is also its policy to introduce them to works by contemporary Canadian composers at every opportunity. Emerging artists are showcased with more established performers who, in many cases, were first presented by Les AMIS at the beginning of their careers. Les AMIS aims to achieve its goals by sponsoring recitals with programs containing works selected by the performers themselves. As well, at least one Canadian composition is recommended or commissioned by Les AMIS especially for them. In this way, the Les AMIS audience is continuously introduced to upcoming artists as well as new Canadian music repertoire.

Pianist Dmitri Levkovich, who was scheduled to perform J S Bach’s Goldberg Variations, had to cancel his November 26 recital due to personal reasons.
I am pleased to announce that pianist Shoshana Telner, a long-time member of Les AMIS family, has enthusiastically accepted the challenge to present a delightful program for our enjoyment.
NOTE: Les AMIS hopes that those of you who have already purchased a ticket will attend Shoshana’s recital. However, if you are unable to do so, you may request a refund OR you may use your ticket for any future Les AMIS event.
For lovers of Goldberg Variations, I am pleased to announce that it will be on the Les AMIS program later in the season. Exceptional Czech pianist, Radka Hanakova, will be coming to Cobourg from Prague, Czech Republic, courtesy of Joseph Macerollo, U of T Professor and Les AMIS Artistic advisor.
Macerollo wrote, “l advised a very talented concert pianist for her doctoral dissertation on Oskar Morawetz at U of T last year. She can perform Bach’s Goldberg Variations complete from memory. She really is exceptional.”
